Getting to Vietnam

Airports, arrival logistics, border crossings and what to arrange before you arrive.

By air

International flights reach Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Da Nang and Phu Quoc airports, with connections through major Asian hubs. Long-haul travellers typically transit via Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong or other regional gateways.

Before you book

Check visa and entry requirements first — most nationalities need a visa or e-visa, and rules change from time to time. See the visa guide for details, then book flights (flexible tickets are wise during holiday periods).

By land

Cambodia, China and Laos share land borders with Vietnam. International travellers can cross only at official checkpoints; confirm current entry rules and arrange your visa before travelling to the border.

Once you land

Airport buses, taxis and ride-hailing apps serve the major airports. For onward domestic flights, trains or buses, book ahead during holidays and peak season — Tet is the busiest period of the year.
